A word of advice for those flying back to the UK after coming over to buy property in Turkey or on holiday, as of Sunday 1st March Turkey has banned passengers on commercial airplanes from carrying any liquids, gels and aerosols exceeding 100 millilitres putting it in line with the international air security standards.

According to the new regulation that came into effect on Sunday; passengers will be allowed to travel with maximum amount of 100 ml liquids, gels and aerosols each in their handbags.

The liquids should be placed inside clear plastic, zip-top bags. This regulation is in line with the international rules.

In 2006 the U.S. and the U.K. implemented a ban on all liquids, gels and aerosols after U.K. officials uncovered an attack plot involving transatlantic flights bound for the United States, the European Union countries followed the move.

The countries later eased the ban and put limits on carry-on liquids after the regulation resulted in long queues in the airports’ during security checks.
